Geek Pick: GoPro Hero7 Black Is A Radical Streaming Camera

As goofy as the term “action camera” is, it’s a pretty accurate name for a pretty useful camera category. Sometimes the best way to get a shot is to carefully compose the frame and capture it with a powerful but delicate lens. But other times the best way to get a shot is to dive right into the fray and bring along a camera durable enough to keep up.

For many their action camera #brand of choice has been GoPro and for good reason, they’re great cameras. And now the GoPro Hero7 Black ($399) adds even more radical new features helping you show off how extreme you are.

You may have seen the new features in the Hero7 Black before, maybe even in other cameras. But their inclusion here is even more impressive considering the camera also has to make ruggedness a priority while packing in this new tech. The camera manages to capture 4K 60fps footage, or 1080p 2040fps for smooth slow-mo and time-lapse, with added image stabilization for especially treacherous locales.

You can also tether the camera to your phone to live stream to sites like YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook, letting viewers share in your adventures. There’s even voice control, in case your hands are busy or the camera is safely secured in an optional external mount.

And this is all built on a rock-solid durable hardware foundation. The GoPro Hero7 Black is waterproof up to 33 feet and capable of withstanding shocks and drops and impacts that would shatter lesser cameras. Plus it actually comes in black this time.
